At St. Philip, our catechumen curriculum is organized into four units, designed to introduce the Orthodox Christian faith and help us grow in the life of the Church.

The lessons are available as a YouTube playlist, so you can watch them at your own pace and return to them as you continue your journey.

An introduction to the faith of the Orthodox Church: Holy Scripture and Holy Tradition, creation and the fall, Jesus Christ, the Holy Trinity, the Church, the Mother of God, the Holy Mysteries, prayer, fasting, the liturgical life, and the saints.

What does it mean to live as an Orthodox Christian? This unit explores prayer, the Jesus Prayer, watchfulness, spiritual growth, and the rhythms of life in the Church.

A practical exploration of Orthodox Christian practice. Why do we make the sign of the Cross? Why do we venerate icons? Why do we light candles, bow, prostrate, and ask for the priest’s blessing? This unit explores not only what we do, but why we do it.

A deeper journey through the Divine Liturgy—from our gathering together and hearing the Word of God, through the prayers of the faithful and the Anaphora, to Holy Communion and carrying the life of the Liturgy into the world.
